Would you like to find more joy, spaciousness and purpose in your life and your art?
Then quit trying to sell to everyone.
Here’s the thing: not everyone is going to get you. Not everyone is going to love you. Not everyone is going to like what you create.
And that’s a good thing.
See, you don’t have the time or the energy to worry about all those people who aren’t your ‘tribe.’
Bless them and release them.
You can only service a small group. Even if you grew to the point where you had ‘a team’ you can still only service a small group.
There are over 7 billion people on this plant.
You only need a few hundred or thousand, at most. That’s enough for you to have enough of what you need.
Think in terms of sustainability. There has to be enough to go around for everyone and you can earn a living ‘serving’ a few thousand customers.
Maybe you’ll be the next Tom Hiddleston and have millions of fans. But maybe you won’t. And that’s okay. You don’t need them.
So if people don’t like your work – f*ck ’em. Let it go and continue to look for the people who do like your work.
You’ll be a whole lot happier and probably more successful.
So who would you want to spend your time with? Who do you want to work with or for? Whom do you want to serve?
