Are you Frustrated by Obstacles? Be like Water.

Be like water making its way through

Are you meeting resistance?

Feel like you’re hitting your head against the wall?

It happens to everyone. You set a goal, you come up with a plan and then you start to work the steps.

And you meet with resistance each step of the way.

What to do?

Wail?

Nash your teeth?

Bitch to your friends?

All of those might be appropriate (for a few minutes) but they’re not going to help you surmount this obstacle.

If you are running into a block – look for a way to go around it.

We don’t have to blast down every barrier in our way.

We don’t have to bang on every locked door until it gets opened.

Sometimes the best approach is to be like water and give in to the object. In so doing you will find a way around it, over it or through it.

Giving in to an obstacle can help us find a different path to get where we’re going (or somewhere even better).

Resistance is exhausting and ultimately unsustainable.

Sustainable creativity is learning to work with your obstacles to find a unique way around them.

Be like water. Yield to what’s in front of you.
