We’ve been digging into financial management lately, which implies being careful, being thrifty, counting beans.
Is this important?
Yes, but let’s not allow it to distract us from a basic truth – being both a creative and being an entrepreneur involves taking risks.
Don’t think that I am suggesting you shouldn’t take risks.
To stop risking is to stop being either a creative or an entrepreneur.
Embrace risk. Pursue risk. Dare to risk.
BUT discuss risk.
Examine risk.
Identify the risks in what you are planning to do.
Think about how you might either prepare for them or shore up your defences to prevent them.
Look at financial risks, risks in your market, risks with your project. Then come up with ideas of how you would deal with them if they did arise.
But still take the risk.
Otherwise you’re an accountant not a creative.
